The Root Cause

Why breath goes bad

Bad breath — or halitosis — is primarily caused by Volatile Sulphur Compounds (VSCs) produced by anaerobic bacteria in the mouth, particularly on the tongue and between teeth. The main culprit is Solobacterium moorei, which metabolises food residue into hydrogen sulphide and methyl mercaptan — the compounds responsible for that unpleasant odour.

Gum and spray mask these compounds temporarily. Bre·Set targets them directly — with ingredients shown to inhibit the bacteria producing them in the first place.

Our Story

Why Bre·Set exists

"Gum was invented to mask.
We built Bre·Set to fix."

The idea was simple: why does every breath product on the market work by flooding your mouth with artificial flavour? Gum, mints, sprays — they all mask the problem for a few minutes, then it comes back. Because they never dealt with the cause.

We started looking at the research. Turns out, bad breath has a clear biological cause: Volatile Sulphur Compounds, produced by specific bacteria in the mouth. And certain natural compounds — green tea polyphenols, cinnamon oil, cardamom — have been shown in peer-reviewed studies to inhibit exactly those bacteria.

So we built a tablet around them. Precisely dosed, naturally sweetened with Xylitol, and designed to dissolve slowly on the tongue — giving the active compounds time to work.

How long does one tablet last? +
Each tablet dissolves on the tongue in 3–5 minutes. The active ingredients continue working for 1–3 hours after dissolving, neutralising odour-causing bacteria and keeping your breath reset throughout your next meeting, conversation, or meal.
Is Bre·Set safe to use every day? +
Yes. All ingredients are food-grade and used in amounts well within established daily intake limits. The formula contains no synthetic compounds, artificial sweeteners, or harsh chemicals. Xylitol — our base sweetener — is also proven tooth-friendly.
Why not just use chewing gum? +
Gum temporarily masks bad breath by flooding your mouth with artificial flavour. It doesn't address the bacteria producing the odour. Bre·Set's herbal actives — particularly cinnamon oil and green tea EGCG — target those bacteria directly, delivering a genuine reset rather than a momentary cover-up.

Does it work after garlic or onion? +
Bre·Set is highly effective against everyday bad breath caused by oral bacteria. For garlic and onion, it significantly reduces the oral component — but these foods also release compounds into your bloodstream that are exhaled through the lungs, which no oral product can fully eliminate. We believe in being honest about that. For most meals and situations, Bre·Set delivers a genuine reset.
